A Nursery Like No Other

Well here goes my first ever blog, which I am really excited about...

So, once me and MG found out we were expecting I jumped into baby mode. I for one can't stand baby themed nurseries so I had a hard time finding bedding I liked. It was all too corny for me, and since I wanted it to be gender neutral, my options were pretty limited. That's when I came upon this bedding made by My Baby Sam. It had everything I wanted in a baby bedding, so a theme had begun! A theme of colors that is: baby blue, baby green, yellow, brown, and white. From there, I let my imagination along with google and Pinterest run rapid.
As you can see this is a pretty random bedding set, with paisleys, gingham, and polka dots.
I did decide to go with a mobile that doesn't go with the bedding even though there is one offered. I did research and found that this mobile was great to keep a baby's attention and brain rolling. And of course mental development overrules cuteness! So, a random mobile it was (but do notice it still goes with my color theme). That's what I call winning!

My parents wanted to buy Emma a crib, so to Ethridge, TN we went! They got this Amish made cedar baby crib for $300. It is super sturdy and heavy and I absolutely love it! The drawers on the bottom are an added commodity, which I am finding myself glad I have. It also adds the rustic/country charm I wanted the nursery to have.
The next thing was that what used to be an office, now lacked color. With all khaki walls something needed to be done, but I wanted cheap and we had just painted the house, so I went searching on google. I found the look I was going for, but it would have cost me close to $100 for the one accent wall, so I decided I could paint it myself and for each color polka dot I could use a $3 paint sample. So, after tedious hours and $25 later, I had the look I was going for.
My in-laws wanted to get a glider for the nursery, and boy is it comfy! It is brown pinstriped down.
Another thing my husband's family did, was they helped sand, paint, and distress a dresser I bought off of Craigslist. My father-in-law added rails for the changing pad and we turned a cheap dresser into an eye catching changing table!
I saw an idea on Pinterest where someone made their last name out of blocks, so of course I had to try once I realized we had some 2x4's laying around.
I was given some chevron fabric that just happened to go with my color theme, so I painted my ceiling fan bronze and modge podged the fabric into place.
This was my favorite project because of how easy it was and how awesome it turned out. With the help of some Elmer's glue and acrylic paint, I crackled this window and taped a b&w photo behind it.
Here, I crackled some wood again, and modge podged burlap to it. Just using things I had laying around, I filled in this empty wall space.
Last but not least, you might have noticed this rug below the crib in a picture or so. It has been a work in progress for about a year now and is about halfway done. It is jersey kit bed sheets with alternating brown and khaki latch hook. It is the worst project ever, but I am determined to finish it.

Anyways, that is the gist of Emma's nursery. Everything was done with as little cost as I could muster and was pretty much all handmade. Hope you enjoyed our little princess' room!
